I’m Tahmina. I’m married to a wonderful man from Barbados and have two adult children. I spent a lot of my life living in different places and meeting all kinds of people. One of the best ways I’ve found to connect with people is through food. Whether it was my children and their friends hanging out around the house or friends just dropping by, there seems to be a party always centered around the kitchen. I’m convinced that most of the world’s problems would be solved if people could have meaningful discussions over some delicious food and drinks. That’s how God relates to us! He sets a table for us and invites us to join him. An abundant table is a great equalizer. I am also a Registered Dietitian, among other things, and food is always a part of my life. In my daily life, eating and cooking healthy and delicious foods are important but equally important is finding moderation and balance. I try to include all the different cultural and traditional foods that I know with newer, more healthy options as well. I firmly believe that it’s absolutely okay to eat a piece of double chocolate rum cake and enjoy every bite as long as it’s not a daily indulgence!
I hope you’ll join me around my kitchen, that’s where everyone ends up anyway.

Hi! I really enjoy your blog and have nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award. 🙂 Happy blogging! http://afternoonpopcornsnack.com/2012/05/09/one-lovely-blog-award/
Thanks Amy, what an honor!
Tahmina, It says in your “about” you have 2 adult children! Your photo looks like you are in your 20’s! WOW is it the FOOD??
It’s the spices (and cause I’m brown, it hides the age spots…hahaha). My eldest son is married and an air force pilot. At his wing ceremony (where he got his pilot wings) everyone thought I was his sister and my mom was really his mom. Go figure.
That is wonderful! How proud too, an Air Force Pilot! I am definitely going to use the rind in a recipe soon now that you said you tried it. I wasn’t sure how it would really work or what the outcome would be….now I’m not afraid:). I have followed some Cooking Show Chefs ideas and had some not so great results haha the magic of Television.
I just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger award. Yo have a wonderful blog!!!!!
Thank you Danny, that is an honor coming from you!
My pleasure!!!!! 🙂

Dave, I was just getting ready to nominate you. Crap! Now you beat me to it, can I nominate you back? Thank you by the way, I really appreciate it. I’m so glad you made the paneer, post your dinner creation!!
LOVE your blog Tahmina! I’m signed up; can’t wait to start learning from you!
Thank you and welcome to the brown side!
Ha ha ha! I’m a HUGE fan of the brown side. My Indian friends at work say I’m more Indian than they are!
Yay! My daughter (who cracks me up all the time) won a high school election a few years back with the tagline..”what can brown do for you?” from the UPS ads. She calls herself “BlAsian” because she’s half Black and half Asian. I guess my food is also “BlAsian”
